I went and visited a prison recently. Some of the guys I was talking to had life sentences and a couple were on death row. A few of them were locked up when they were just 18 and 19 years old.A lot of time had passed since they committed their crimes. They had been saved, become Christians and would give anything to take back their actions.
But they can’t. Their lives have been ruined by what they did. They could claim that they were young and stupid. They could say that they were ignorant (and in God’s eyes they were) but that doesn’t change the fact that they have to live with the consequences of what they did.
They are stuck in a horrible place. They live in a place of terror where there is very little comfort and almost no one cares about them. All because of a stupid mistake many years ago.
They knew what they were doing was wrong. They did it anyway. They figured the reward outweighed the risk, or they were caught up in the moment, or they couldn’t resist the urge, or they were peer pressured into it, or they just didn’t think, or they didn’t have enough discipline.
Now they are stuck. They cannot change their reality.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
It doesn’t matter what you have done, we have all sinned and fall short of the Glory of the Lord, but you don’t have to pay the price!! You don’t have to serve your sentence. Just call on Jesus BEFORE you are convicted and He will set you free from a fate worse than the worst prison on earth.
If you are not yet saved, God sees you as being ignorant, surrender your life to Him and He will erase your sins.
If you have been saved and you are still sinning, BEWARE!! You know what you are messing with!! You don’t want to find yourself convicted to HELL because of a technicality.
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
The people I visited in jail have regret. They would do anything to go back in time and make a different decision. There are two types of pain in life; the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. Choose discipline. LIVE RIGHT!
God Bless You
